As the emphasis on environmental sustainability increases, tyre waste management has become an urgent problem at the international level. Inappropriate tyre waste management poses serious dangers to ecological systems and the well-being of mankind. In order to solve this problem, the introduction of Tyre EPR Registration has been introduced as one of the key solutions to deal with environmental impacts of tyre waste.
Nevertheless, the rules were published after some changes in the rules made by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Central Pollution Control Board in 2022 as the Hazardous and Other Wastes Amendment Rules 2022. The effectivity date of this rule is 21st July, 2022. The rules apply to tyre manufacturers, tyre recyclers and tyre retreader.
