Kim Kardashian is moving further into scripted entertainment: she’s signed on to star in and executive-produce The Fifth Wheel, an ensemble comedy.
The screenplay comes from writers Paula Pell (Saturday Night Live, Sisters, Girls5eva) and Janine Brito (Mr. Mayor, Bless the Harts); Pell will also produce alongside Kardashian.
Kardashian will portray the title character — the literal “fifth wheel” — and the production team says casting for the rest of the ensemble will be revealed as the project moves into production.
The move follows several recent screen projects for Kardashian, including a role in season 12 of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story and a voice performance as poodle Delores in the two Paw Patrol films.
She’s noted that the Paw Patrol role helped convince her children she’s a “cool mom,” while she continues to balance business ventures and law studies.
