If Love is off the board early, which, based on his combine tests, suggests he will be, then the Chiefs can pivot to getting a pa s rusher or defensive tackle. Yes, the defense needs work, but so too does the offense, and you could make the case that last season, it was the offense that was the worst out of the two.
